Everyone needs advice when starting a career in any field. Many recruitment agencies around the market help you get jobs, but they don’t mentor or coach you in a way that you would develop and create more opportunities for yourself. Eric Torigian, founder of CHRO Solutions and an expert HR influencer, will help you find the job you love and live the life you deserve.
Getting into a dead-end job and working without guidance can be a waste of time. Recruitment companies don’t help candidates with their vision but feed into the corporate cycle of getting workers for less money. According to Eric, in order to avoid these situations and find a good job that can help you develop and increase your standard of living, there are a few things you should keep in mind.
Get a mentor
Connecting with someone to help you acclimate into the corporate world would be a good idea. He coaches and mentors people who succeed in their careers and find excellent and rewarding jobs. This is also a good idea because it will be better for you if someone shows you the ropes and explains how to do the job well. Mentorship doesn’t mean you need to learn how to do the job, but it helps shorten the learning curve and get past the first few awkward mistakes every fresh employee makes.
Get a vision for your life and find out what you want out of your career
Eric believes that once you make a plan and stay committed to it, there is nothing that can stop you from achieving greatness. That is why he insists that you create a vision for yourself and make a 5-10 year plan of where you see yourself. It can include where you want to work, whether you want to start a business and become an entrepreneur, whether you want financial freedom, and when you want to retire. Having a vision will help you take the necessary steps to achieve all your goals and objectives.
Get out of your comfort zone
Eric is a real-life example of not staying in your comfort zone. A good job is great, but without challenges and purpose, it will give you nothing. Staying in a stalemate too long will ruin your chances of development and decrease your chances of success. To find true success like Eric, you must move out of your comfort zone and try new things without fear. Similarly, Eric has also moved on from corporate life and his comfort zone to make the future generation’s lives more successful and better.
Never run away from a challenge
Proper growth comes when you compete, not with others but with your old self. Finding and solving new challenges will make you more experienced and reliable in the eyes of your higher-ups. Eric solved so many challenges his prior employers faced, like terminations, bankruptcy, strikes, and mergers. He worked and excelled through them all to come up successful and, in return, was given more responsibility over his department. That is how he is so successful today, helping others like himself to become better at handling challenges.
