Life is supposed to be full of fun, liveliness and joy. Nobody wants an existence of boredom and mundanity. There is a common misperception, especially among the so-called “cool crowd,” that you need alcohol to bring excitement to your day. Well, Karen Thomson, the anything-but-boring powerhouse behind the Super Sexy Sobriety, is here to prove them wrong.
Super Sexy Sobriety is a platform that helps to curb addiction and promote sobriety. It will include My Super Sexy Sobriety Podcast – which launches its first episode very soon – and a coaching program.
Karen is an addiction survivor herself. At 24, she was deep into alcoholism and on the verge of ending her own life. But something in her pushed her to not give up so easily, and to keep going. Checking into rehab and coming out clean became her most outstanding achievement. It was the bravest thing she had ever done and continues to do. That day also holds utmost significance to her, as it was the day she chose to start all over again.
One of Karen’s biggest fears was losing her fun, glamorous identity after sobriety. People are conditioned to think that being sober means living a boring and limiting lifestyle. However, Karen dismantled all these beliefs regarding this stereotypical narrative.
Embracing sobriety has not made her life dull; in fact, Karen thinks it has elevated her living standards. She used alcohol to feel worthy, beautiful, and accepted – masking everything under a facade. After 18 clean years, she has never felt better about herself and her life. Her recovery has taught her many lessons: you are good enough exactly as you are, you are stronger than you think, and you are the one who brings the fun into your life, not anything else.
Sobriety has allowed Karen to feel sexy and confident in her own skin. She makes things exciting even when they are not or are commonly not deemed to be. That’s why she knew she had to create a sober platform that promotes the idea of recovery being joyful, exciting and empowering – an innovation of its own kind! Recovery from addiction is bound to make one feel light, joyful, and fearless.
Karen encourages people to take sobriety one day at a time, and as the saying goes, “Little by little, a little gradually becomes a lot.” A day will turn into a week, then a month, then a year, and so on. Super Sexy Sobriety allows you to find a community that inspires and supports you, making your journey easier.
Remember, every day is a new day where you feel good waking up sober.
